Amendments to Bylaws
A proposed amendment may be submitted by a Class 1 member or by action of the Board of Directors.
Must be sent to the Grand Secretary in writing at least sixty days before the annual meeting and made available thirty days prior.
Notice must show the entire proposed text, new/deleted language, and a purpose statement (under 100 words).
Urgent amendments can be presented by the Jurisprudence and Legislation Committee at any time during a meeting.
Proposed amendments must be submitted to and reported upon by the Jurisprudence and Legislation Committee. Can be modified by voting members, but the modification must be germane.
Adoption requires affirmative vote of the Board of Directors and a two-thirds affirmative vote of Class 1 members present and voting or a majority of all Class 1 members, whichever is less. Effective at the close of the annual meeting where adopted, unless otherwise provided.
