Acceptance of Gifts

Acceptance of contributions, gifts, or grants is at the discretion of DeMolay International (DI), and gifts must align with DI's purpose and mission. Gifts generally accepted without review include cash and marketable securities. Certain gifts (real property, personal property, non-liquid securities, restricted gifts) require prior review by the Executive Director in consultation with the Board and Jurisprudence and Legislation Committee.

Gifts may be rejected if they violate the corporate charter, jeopardize 501(c)(3) status, are too difficult/expensive to administer, or are outside DeMolay's mission. DeMolay respects donor intent for restricted or anonymous gifts. The DeMolay Foundation, a separate 501(c)(3) entity, secures philanthropic funding for DI's mission, programs, and services.

The Foundation supports scholarships, programs/services, and the headquarters/historical artifacts.

The building and property of the Service and Leadership Training Center are owned by the DeMolay Foundation.

The Founders' Society recognizes individuals who include DeMolay International or DeMolay Foundation in their planned giving estate plans.

The DeMolay Foundation accepts various gift types including cash, securities, real estate, and deferred gifts.
